Providing health insurance is one of the greatest challenges facing ministries today.  The rates for health insurance have skyrocketed so much in recent years that many employers no longer provide health insurance for their employees.

Nearly 47 million people in the United States - 16% of the population - were without any health insurance coverage in 2005.  Studies have shown that "a lack of insurance compromises the health of the uninsured because they receive less preventive care, are diagnosed at more advanced disease stages, and once diagnosed, tend to receive less therapeutic care and have higher mortality rates than insured individuals." The impacts of going uninsured are clear and severe.  Many uninsured individuals postpone needed medical care, which results in increased mortality and billions of dollars lost in productivity and increased expenses to the health care system.

Also, nearly half of all U.S. bankruptcies in 2001 were caused by soaring medical bills.  And, most people sent into debt by illness are middle-class workers with health insurance.  Medical bankruptcies affect about 2 million Americans every year, if both debtors and their dependents, including about 700,000 children, are counted. Our Envoy LifeCare Simple Health Solutions^TM is an affordable benefit medical program that is available at three care levels: Basic, Enhanced, and Advantage.  Simple Health Solutions^TM is not a major medical or comprehensive insurance plan, but rather covers specific medical care and provides a predetermined fixed dollar reimbursement, up to a calendar year maximum, for medical care.  Simple Health Solutions^TM is an affordable and practical way for ministries to provide or make available health insurance coverage for their employees and family members when a major medical program is not feasible.

The following are highlights of the coverage and benefits each of these Envoy LifeCare Simple Health Solutions^TM plans provides:

Basic:

• Doctor's Office Visit, Diagnostic X-Ray and Lab, and Preventative Care:
• Visits to a doctor's office, urgent care facility or outpatient hospital
• Diagnostic X-ray and lab tests ordered or performed by a doctor
• Routine exams, immunizations, and medical treatments
• Well-child care for children up to age six
• Discount on Emergency Room, Major Diagnostic Testing, Surgery, Prescription Drugs, and Hospital care
• Survivor benefit (two years of coverage as long as employer plan remains in effect; eligibility requirements remain)

Enhanced:

• All the benefits of Basic, plus:
• Coverage for Emergency Room, Major Diagnostic Testing, and Surgery
• Annual mammogram and pap smear
• Prescription drug coverage:
• Out-of-hospital prescription drugs, up to a calendar year maximum, once a co-payment is been paid.
• Discount on Hospital care

Advantage:

• All the benefits of Enhanced, plus:
• Hospital care
  

Employees can also add optional Accident coverage.

In order to offer a Simple Health Solutions^TM plan, you first need to determine whether your ministry meets the state-mandated minimum number of full-time employees to participate in the program.  In most cases you'll need to have 5 full-time employees (unless your ministry is part of a regional or national group), but there are exceptions and some states do not offer the program.  Use this drop-down box to see the minimum number of full-time employees for your state:
